in all activities, committees, meetings and projects of the child
care planning council.

General Membership
The San Benito
County Child Care Planning Council is seeking individuals who
are interested in becoming a General Member of the San Benito
Local Child Care Planning Council.
Planning
Council functions and responsibilities: The San Benito
County Child Care Planning Council is a legislatively mandated
body that advises the County Board of Supervisors and County Superintendent
of Schools on child care program and policy issues, conducts research
and analysis, makes recommendations on California Department of
Education funding, and coordinates county wide projects to assist
the development of child care. The Planning Council has an inclusive
General Membership. Everyone willing to work for child care is
welcome and encouraged to become a General Member.
General
Member functions: The General Membership is a group which
acts as an Advisory to the Steering Committee. General Members
may attend meetings and participate in committees to plan and
implement projects and programs sponsored by the Local Planning
Council. General Members may be parents, or members of the community
who have an interest in child care matters within San Benito County.
Applicants
are being sought for General Membership. The application process
is as follows:

2. Applications
will be reviewed by the Steering Committee and new applicants
will be added to the LPC mailing and email list. Thereafter, general
members will receive monthly meeting notices, meeting minutes
and other educational materials, by mail or email concerning childcare
issues in San Benito and California.
Members are
invited to attend and participate in Council meetings, committees
and activities.

for Applicants for Nomination to the
San Benito County Local Child Care Planning Council
Steering Committee
The San Benito
County Child Care Planning Council is seeking individuals who
are interested in applying for appointment to the Planning Council
Steering Committee.
Steering
Committee functions and responsibilities: The Planning
Council's Steering Committee is a voting membership of 15 individuals
representing categories listed below. Fifty percent of Steering
Committee members are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors
and 50% by the County Superintendent of Schools. The Steering
Committee is responsible for successful functioning of the Council.
Each
of the five categories represented on the Steering Committee has
two positions:
- Child
Care Consumers: parents or persons who receive or who
have received child care services within the past 36 months.
- Child
Care Providers: persons who provide child care services
or represent persons who provide child care services.
- Public
Agency Representatives: persons who represent a city,
a county, or a local education agency.
- Community
Representatives: persons who represent an agency or
business that provides private funding for child care services
or who advocate for child care services through participation
in civic or community based organizations, but are not child
care providers and do not represent agencies that contract with
the California Department of Education to provide child care
and development services.
- Members
at discretion of Board or Superintendent: persons from
any of the above categories or outside of these categories at
the discretion of appointing agencies.

are being sought for all positions. The application process is

- A Review
Committee will forward candidates in each category to the current
Steering Committee for review in December.
- Applications
approved by the Steering Committee will be forwarded to Board
of Supervisors or County Superintendent of Schools by December
30. (forwarded applicants are not guaranteed appointment).
- New Steering
Committee members will be invited to attend the Planning Council
meeting each January.
- Appointment
of new Steering Committee members by Board or Superintendent
is scheduled for no later than January 20. An Orientation will
be provided for new Steering Committee members prior to the
first meeting in January.
- All applicants
will be informed of their status at each step of this process.
